What security concerns do you have with DNA and genealogy testing?

I'm super dubious and don't trust a company out to make money with something as personal as my DNA. I think there are other ways to get the medical information and family stories I need without going to something like 23andMe first. (I know that's not true for everyone) But I know a lot of people who do it despite that. Curious what you took into consideration if you choose to participate.

How much % of minority dna do I need to count towards minority hire?

I thought about it. But, when you really think about what may happen with your DNA, it becomes a real concern. The police and crime databases “misplace” DNA every day. What is the company folds? What if the company does a Ray Kroc like McDonald’s? And takes the DNA and uses it against you making millions? What if the company gets bought by Google? It’s a mess. I have a rare blood type, and if I could patent it, I would. And make them sign an arbitration agreement and indemnity clause.

In the future they could use DNA to “customize” your health insurance needs as well as to hire you (who wants to hire people that have a higher tendency to get addicted to drugs or who are more prone to depression?) Well that’s the main reason why I wouldn’t do any DNA test
