What to expect Sr. Product Manager salary at oath?

Expecting an offer from Oath/Yahoo. Currently at Microsoft at 64 level, what should I expect as base + RSU + sign on bonus? Do they have corresponding job level?

Why do.you want to leave MS for OATH?

Microsoft SaDs76 OP Jun 18, 2018

Need to move to bay area for personal reason and MSFT does not offer much pay raise for relocation to manage high living cost( housing).

Google keerin Jun 18, 2018

They pay fairly well

Microsoft lLDE01 Jun 18, 2018

Don’t leave msft for Oath dude. Go anywhere but Oath. It’s a smear on your resume. And people will ask if you were fired from msft on a visa that you’d to be so desperate to join Oath.

not sure why would it smear on resume. most of the people i met in oath, came from Google, Apple, MSFT etc.

Former oath employee here - I would strongly recommended interviewing elsewhere and evaluating your options. Verizon/Oath was a terrible place to work. They're operating Yahoo/Oath as a traditional blue collar company (Verizon) and just don't get how to build tech products. The PMs I worked with felt helpless since most decisions were made in Waltham. Very limited scope and annoying leadership. If you do end up considering their offer - read their retainer clauses well. Verizon tries to hide it's 401k vesting clause (they match up to 6% but only if you stay 3 years). They also had a retainer clause for relocation and sign on bonus. Also ensure they're paying you per Bay area standards. Good luck

What product at Oath?

Yahoo KEXI07 Jun 19, 2018

Like most things in life, the answer is, “it depends”. Depends on what group/product at Oath. In some groups you’ll have the opportunity to work with some very smart people who operate and still build products at massive scale. In some groups, you will be tasked to be the last person to switch off the lights on the way out. Choose based on the people you will be working with, the products you will be building and the impact you could have. That will translate to a happier and more fulfilling job than chasing after dollars or a marquee company. If it’s not a fit for you, the worlds best place to work for all could be the worst place for you. All the best!

I second that. It depends on the group. Some groups operate at a leasurly pase while others keep the midnight oil burning. What I do like is the impact, recently just realizing that oath is the #2 destination in terms of traffic on the comScore ranking lists.

Also agree. Depending on the team you join, you could be maintaining frustratingly legacy code and doing boring stuff, or on the other end of the spectrum, you could be developing deep learning models and launching them into production on fast cycles. You might be on a team where people barely do any work, or you could be running at the pace of a startup. And of course anything in between. Team will dictate your experience, not “Oath”

Oath has gotten better but it’s not “cool” like other tech companies. If u want a cushy job, then go for it
