Main reason I'm leaving is my TC is almost doubled at new company, but should I actually say money is the reason I'm leaving, or should I make up a bs reason like more opportunity, etc.? Current TC: 110k
It’s your time to refer you old manager to new company
Lol I would if he asked
I totally told my director that and tell them semi-regularly
If you like your manager as a person, I think leaving for money is the most rational and non-emotional reason to leave. They might be trying to feel if there was something they could have done better to retain you. I hated my first job’s manager. I just told him I think he’s incompetent and I can make more money for less time at work and on more interesting things elsewhere.
I do like him as a person. But for some reason I feel like it's more "acceptable" to use another reason besides money for leaving. It just feels weird to say oh I'm leaving for more money...
All my managers since my first were great people. If you tell them it’s money, they may try to counter offer (accepting the counter offer is another topic of discussion). I have not yet had a counter offer that beat my new offer though.
Be honest. They won’t bring wages in line with the market if they don’t know there is a problem.
Mention the honest reason if you care to. If not, any BS is fine.
Role?
Don’t tell them what they already know. They cannot do anything to stop you anyway.
Just tell him higher TC. g Getting paid getting laid bruh
Why did you start looking for a new job to begin with? Was it just that you wanted more money or was it something else, or a combination. I’m always completely truthful when telling my employer why I’m leaving. I don’t really understand why anyone wouldn’t be. The best that can happen is they make things better for your teammates, the worst is they do nothing to change.
I wasn't really looking, a recruiter just reached out to me and I thought why not give it a shot.
Help out your coworkers by telling the company that their compensation was the reason you were leaving.
