This is to Zillow folks. Zillow is only in US. Is an employee screwed big time if he or she won’t get H1B? Your insights.
Did you try to reach your manager or recruiter?
I tried reaching out to recruiter. He said he would find out. He isn’t sure himself. So there’s no job security at Zillow if you didn’t get H1B?
I’m not H1B, so no idea
Basically if you don’t have valid us work authorisation, you are no longer eligible to work. If the company still employs you in the US, they violate uscis rules and they would not want to do that.
That’s true. Have to read Zillow’s policies. Do you know anyone at Zillow that could provide some insights?
Well, that's exactly the reason I chose Oracle over some startups. And my manager promised me to temporary transfer internationally if needed.
I’m currently at Oracle as well. But I have offers from Zillow and Microsoft. I am debating between those two. Zillow is offering an amazing pay. Only thing is I don’t know if they have offices outside US and if they would move me there. If nots choose MIcrosoft. Microsoft seems better than Oracle dude. Only because there are no bonuses at Oracle and also managers are not supportive at Oracle.
Well, status is always the No.1 priority as an alien. Money, career progress can be caught up later if the uncertainty of status being resolved. That's just my two cents. If I were you, I will choose M$ over Zillow. Maybe ask M$ to match what Zillow can offer. There's no harm to try.
Many small and big companies are in US only. Not their problem. Note: I’m on H1b myself
What would they do? Fire you? Then there’s no job security at these small and big companies that are only in US right?
There is never a job security anywhere man. If you want job security, join the government or government related services
