What would be a good baby shower present to the couple?

I don't have kids. What is a good baby shower gift? They don't have a gift registry to pick from. Willing to spend between $100-$500. What was something you liked as a present for this occasion or what recommend as a suggestion?

Second this, just give them the gift card and let them buy whatever they need!

Absolutely do this! Parents can spend it the way they deem fit - diapers, wipes, clothing, baby care etc. They have a ton of things to buy, I m sure they ll appreciate it.

New mom here: Amazon gift cards are great! You could include some cute clothes, diapers, and baby wash if you don't want to seem like you are just giving a gift card. Usually the mom has an online registry too.

Avoid gifts. New moms can be very particular about what they buy for their babies. Best option is Amazon gift card. You could spend $500 on a Britax stroller, but nope the color could be wrong...

I really like the Pottery Barn Kids quilts. Blankets during this time of the year are always welcome. If you really want to go all out I liked the Peg Perego highchair. A couple of my friends also have this highchair and they loved it.

Gift cards are very practical. I outsource the shopping to my wife but if I were shopping it would be silly kids books plus a gift card. Nothing better than reading a silly kids book at bedtime.

My favorite baby gifts I received when my kids were born were personalized baby blankets from a place like pottery barn kids (only works if they already have a name picked out obviously) and handmade items (baby hat + booties set, check Etsy). Can also always get a 4 pack of Muslin swaddle blankets from Aden and Anais and pair it with an amazon gift card- everyone uses those blankets

Diapers. Don't get size nb or 1, because they will out grow them. I like size 3 cause the baby will "eventually fit". If the parents are first time parents, get name brand diapers (you don't want them to think you are cheap). If the parents have other kids, get off-brand diapers (because existing parents know the cheap diapers still work). Diaper wipes are good Bottles WITH nipples (they break so easily), if you can, try to pair with a brand the parents already have Sound machine. For the love of GOD a sound machine All baby monitors are crap, but they will still need one, simply so they can learn that they suck (you can drop some SERIOUS money really fast here, btw) Learn-to-read books (all age groups are good). Books for kids are mostly disposable because they will destroy anything nice Child safety locks, get a variety so the parents can learn what works Sheets for the crib Chest-carrier (search Ergo, and similar products)
