Went on a site like Naukri and applied for jobs, got a visa and moved to india? I expect to make 50k and pay 400 in rent, I am a 20yoe unemployed (past TC 220k) eng and I am seriously considering this given how bad the market is in the us. Not a troll at all.
You may end up being a CEO ..read about zoomcar on wiki.
Yeah seriosly these guys came all the way to India to start their startup and it is really big now.
If you do it, I want to hear about it.
50k and 400 in rent do not go together. In a tier 2 cities like Ahmedabad, Baroda on average people don’t get 50K salary as software engineer. If you want around 50k, you work in city like Pune, Bangalore . You won’t find a place for 400 in suck places!
It should be under a thousand right? In the us the jobs are very insecure, a 170k salary is 80 after tax, rent is 60k and there is nothing left. I'm in San Francisco.
> I'm in San Francisco. There’s your problem. Consider instead bumping your TC to 250k and paying 2500 for rent. Totally doable
You are under estimating cost of living for decent standard of living in india. There is min salary req to get a visa. I don’t see much issues with getting a job as there is huge shortage of skilled ones.
What is your line of work?
Software eng
How is the market is that bad for you?
By the way, as per a white house press release in 2017, around 700K USA citizens reside in India. Not sure how many of them are white.
Mostly US born kids of Indians.
I think just Geoff and Barry. Was going to say Hans also but I reckon he's a euro.
Seriously, you'll be treated like God in india. Especially if you're white. Most of white folks in US who are not in tech should try getting a job .. as long as you can stomach culture shock.
Chances are high you may fail in interview but if you succeed then you find yourself in very competitive environment which is much different than USA
Yes I know it's hard work, it just seems the salary is better and the jobs are more secure. Although maybe not.
Wells jobs are not secure from my experience but you would be fine switching and finding jobs. Salary wise you can save only if you follow saving mindset instead of hand to mouth. Things are becoming expensive in India 2 bhk apartment in bangalore in good area would cost around 300k USD
You can probably do it if you're ready for the culture shock. Your whiteness would probably be seen as a plus.
Why would it be a plus? Maybe only to those Indians who write in comments that sashi tharoor should be the next PM just because he can speak English fluently 😨
Diversity is welcome in India as well. Obviously anybody will be honored to think their home is worth a visit/stay etc. For the first couple days you’re a unique person so that plays into it too - let’s call it positive racism
