Hey I'm kind of in the interview process right now for a position at Netflix. Whats the company culture like? I just want a better understanding of the company. (I don't really work in tech exactly but I'm tech adjacent so I won't be sharing my TC.)
Netflix is very public and open with their unique culture. They want people to self select into it. The general idea is that you are not there to build your career. You are there to serve a specific company goal. They only hire senior engineers in every position. They pay top of market. If you don’t serve your usefulness (priorities change, underperforming, etc), you’re given a big severance and wished best of luck. The common line is “we are not a recreational team. We are a professional sports team.” Being that unlike little league, where everyone gets a trophy, Netflix is like MLB that only the select stars get to play. Again, it’s not for everyone.
