Google doing more layoffs, restructuring including country moves
I've been struggling to make the jump to the corporate world (in spite of my Amazon tag, I was only there as a contractor). I have 3 YOE in marketing, virtually all of which is cloud partner and product marketing, almost exclusively for AWS (via marketing agencies). In spite of this, I have yet to be even so much as contacted for a phone screen for positions I'm exceptionally qualified for. I've even camped outside the Kumo building handing out resumes. At this point, I'm at a loss on what I'm doing wrong. Is it possible that it's due to my mediocre education (grew up lower middle class, couldn't afford anything better than an only ok state school)?
You need to focus more on networking. Get involved in the community and make some friends around town
If you haven’t even passed the resume screening round, there is something wrong with your resume. Have someone in your fields critiqued it. Ask for some examples to compare and adjust. Good luck
I know from feedback that I likely don't have enough details of the technical marketing I've done, but I also have a very strict NDA and limit the details on the advice of an attorney. I'm not really sure how to get around that obstacle.
Try applying for small companies like small startups. They often require less experience than bigger companies. That's how I got my start
Thank you for the helpful comment 🙄
