I'm talking about L6 role (Staff SWE / Senior EM). What are expected salary, sign on, stock, TC? Do they have the same comp for IC and EMs? Coming from Facebook with 700k TC, I wonder if they can beat that
Honest question: why wework? Do you think you'll be more useful in a property manager than a social media company?
WeWork is not a great company at all, have many shitty stories - I did the mistake of joining from FB and left within 3 month and now happy at another pre-ipo company Don’t do it my friend, you’ll regret big time
Thanks. Which company did you end up joining?
WeWork is not a tech company. They try to sell you IOT kool aid. All the growth is geared up by Saudi money. There's no interesting scalability problem (scale is probably 10,000 DAU). It's hard to make it a high growth business like other software companies. At most, they will become a brand and get into franchising. But what's the economy of scale in that model?
I wouldn’t join a company that only expenses vegetarian biz meals
WeWork always lays off the bottom 10% performers. It's stated in another thread here, in case you don't believe me.
What level are you now at Facebook? M1 or M2?
M1
Did you get M1 from start with TC of 700K or grew into mgmt and the value of stock raised? sounds like a lot above their avg. I am about to get an offer and I know for fact the numbers are much lower unless you can tell me otherwise :)
Amusing to see all the outsiders somehow strongly suggesting not to join. Wework won’t beat 700. Not even close. Base for L6 is something like 250, maybe 275 if you really outperform in the interview. Stock might be something like 200-300 over 4-5 years. I’ve heard they’re now giving RSU’s instead of options but it’s still virtual money so I wouldn’t count on it. There are no bonuses and rarely any refreshers. Comp wise Wework is far behind faang so don’t join if that’s what matters the most. I think tech culture here is good. It’s hectic, lots of processes still being ironed out and in the process of being established. But you won’t have to work nearly as hard (I was at faang before joining). People are smart and caring. We use latest tools and pay attention to tech debt. Managers are understating and you won’t have to stay extra hours to reach deadlines. It’s a pretty chill environment where you can work at a comfortable pace while learning, making an impact on product or an infrastructure while having a good (not great) pay.
Got an offer for L6, total comp 400k /y. Just 3 years of stock vesting.
How many YoE? What’s the split, base / total RSU over 3 years? Any perf bonus?
I assume you rejected it given the massive delta from your current TC?
May you share details? How many stock units at what price?

Also, how does their stock vesting look like? 25% after year 1?
Yes standard cliffs. Either 20% or 25% depending on if it’s 4 or 5 years.
Many people say that they just give 3 year grants
