What’s the difference between a quant and a quantitative developer?

At a place like two sigma or tower research, what’s different between the responsibilities of each role and does the total comp differ by much?

If you are an engineer, you will do engineer type work and get paid like an engineer. If you are a trader/researcher, you will get paid more because you are responsible for the logic that actually determines what trades to execute. But this typically means a background in math/statistics, not engineering Don’t get confused by the job titles, you will be in one of the above categories. Highly unlikely you will be in the latter category if you are currently an engineer

Guys who don't respond to emails or IM's are quants. Guys who helps you out and are readily available are quant developers. The latter category includes me as well.

You find people all across a spectrum from heavy math (definitely a Quant) to heavy CS (surely a Quant Dev). In the middle, titlea are blurry. Some places also have "Quant traders". The general rule is, the closer to the money flow, the better the comp.
