Thinking about applying for some of the C++ positions in LA since it's close. What can I expect for a loop as a local candidate and what material should I prep on for the tech portion? Do you all like solving riddles at the whiteboard, or is it more systems design. Additionally, what is the bar to break into L4 at snap? 5yoe @ 130k (lol, game companies)
@OP did you make the new cod?
Nope, not I.
No love from any Snap folks yet. I found the following on rooftop slushie. Seem accurate? https://www.rooftopslushie.com/request/Snap-Software-Engineer-Interview-79 https://www.rooftopslushie.com/request/Snap-Culture-81
For L3/L4 you can expect a mix of coding and design rounds (at least 4 rounds for on site). If it's a c++ specific role, might have some language specific elements too. For L4, there's an emphasis on technical design on top of excellent coding and problem solving skills.
Thanks for your comments! Very insightful. I'm not worried about painting an entire company with the same brush. Unless you're at a startup I find that culture can change drastically from team to team. Anyway, one last question. How are RSUs accumulated at Snap? What % is RSU in the initial offer and are they refreshed every year or promotions?
RSU vest every year, at the fixed rate. So if you get 200K over 4 years, that'd be 50K/year. I don't know the current offers precisely, but we pay above market. There are performance and promo bonuses(as RSUs). In general our offers aren't that different from rest of FAANG or other top bay area companies. Sounds like you are new to this sector. You should read up online about interviewing at top tech companies. There's a lot of info out there.
130K in LA??!!!
Yeah, don't want to sound destitute, because that's nowhere near the case. But with tech you can understand why I want to aim high and take the shot.
Have you considered trying Riot Games? Hear they have pretty good TC for a game company down in LA
