Everyone's got something they use right? Always press for more comp until near rejection, never reveal current TC until absolutely necessary, always interview for positions higher than your current to keep from getting underleveled, always ask for signing bonus no matter if the recruiter insists it's against policy, LinkedIn the interviewers before going rounds, ensure you have at least 2 offers so they are compete with each other and your current company? What's worked best for you so far? And what are things you absolutely must do or not do in order to keep the advantage?
Another offer
Get a competing offer. Inflate that by 25% and tell the HR that you got a verbal approval from the other company. Make sure you sound confident and the HR is bound to fall for this. Worked for me most of the times!
Maybe not lie as to not get caught in an awkward situation, but I get the gist
It may be a lie but at the end it feels good. The HR will low ball you otherwise. That competing offer is the safe pad to fall back to if this one bombs. But if it clicks, you get more than what you cracked. Win win scenario
You guys are geniuses!
Managing your pipeline helps. Try to align the processes so they all end around the same time. Manage your stakeholders at each place and be open about interviewing at other places.
In addition to the answers here on competing offers etc, read this (or better yet the actual book) and try the things mentioned https://github.com/mgp/book-notes/blob/master/never-split-the-difference.markdown
Having another offer has been my best tactic. Works every time
