What's your motivation in life?

People in late 30s, 40s and 50s: what has been the best use of your time in late 20s/early 30 years.
What would you advise to someone looking for motivation in life and trying to escape the feelings of mid life malaise, like following:
- career is fulfilling but not challenging anymore, on daily basis
- travel seems repetitive
- having kids to fill missing gaps seems way too much effort in otherwise busy and career oriented life.
- hobbies are okay, but again not exciting on daily basis

What motivates you? What experiences have been most rewarding over all these years, from the point of view of REALLY increasing quality of life?

Congrats op! you can't even ask a question propery, no wonder you feel this way.
If you're looking for a different perspective or insights ask an open ended question. Don't let people click on checkboxes you came up with. What a fail.

We really needed a comment to criticize a pic that solidifies a comment that nobody cares about. 🙄

My only regret was I didn’t workout and didn’t have a healthy outlet in my 20s. Luckily, I managed to turn it around in my 30s and how life is a lot more meaningful since then.

Always try to be interesting and try new things....what motivates me these days (early 40s) is to stay true to myself, setting up an example for my son, and making connection to people I love. Always be present in time and stop worrying excessively about the future.

My outlet is martial arts, mostly Muay Thai and boxing. I found a lot of connection with the martial arts community and in the process, I have gotten very fit as well and change perspective in life.

My social circle used to be my coworkers or people in the tech industry. We used to talk about works (or complained about life in general) and I just found myself very uninteresting or bored to even hear myself talking.

When I trained with my teammates, we didn’t talk about money or prestige. Everyone was/is so focused to make each other better esp if one of us has a fight coming up. I also feel touched to some of the coaches. They don’t get paid a lot and mostly coach because of their passions. Some even help out some kids (or adults) out of trouble and coached them to championship.

Also when you train hard, you have to eat better to keep up. Your body just feels great in general; a combination of meeting interesting people, surrounded by passionate people, develop a habit to eat well, and exercise/train hard.

You didn't mention a few things you should be doing: start saving for retirement, buy a home, find a mentor, find a technical area that you are passionate about.

Also, you should have kids. We need the smart and educated ones to raise the next generation, not the dumb and biased ones.
