I want to stay for my well deserved bonus and leave right after (I have personal things to deal with). But I’m a bit afraid that when I give the 2 weeks notice they may want me to leave before the bonus. It’s a big company, in case it matters
They can make you leave before you even asked to quit. Absolutely do not tell them until you're really ready and yes they absolutely can ask you to leave before. And many companies and industries it's very, that they walk you out of the office building as soon as you announce you're quitting. You don't take anything with you you're not allowed and you can pick up your things and next day
Rule of resignations: never give your two weeks until you're ready to walk out the door right afterwards.
Is it ok if I give 1 week only instead or looks too bad? I’ll be starting a new long project by then, so it’s not like I’m leaving before an important deadline
Give your two weeks as a professional courtesy, and expect to be released from employer the minute after you inform of resignation. They have no obligation to carry your costs from notice forward, and definitely will withhold any pending bonus or commission payout.
There is no rule of thumb of 1 week vs2 weeks. You can leave same day if you want as it's employment at will. Think about it if you were good at your job how can you expect to transition or document your knowledge in just one week or even two weeks. It's just courtesy to give two weeks and working 100% for those two weeks to leave the company in a decent place. I agree with above comments, do not put your papers until you get your bonus.
Please listen to the comments above or you'll miss out on your bonus
I wouldn’t trust that they pay the bonus until it shows up in your bank account. Don’t quit until you have the money. 2 weeks is a courtesy thing. Some companies make you stay two week to cash out your vacation balance but otherwise you can just walk out the door. Having said that you might piss a lot of people off without staying two weeks. It’s a small world you will run into them again.
You should have negotiated your new start date with the new company.
Rule of resignations #2: In California you are not required to give two weeks notice, however, this is the professional custom in the USA. Any time period less than two weeks, without a good reason, will be seen as unprofessional. If doing so, be prepared to have your reputation trashed by the team you leave behind.
The answer is they can terminate you before you want to leave. Wait for the bonus. Be prepared to pack your box the day you offer your resignation. Most employers will be cool with you asking to extend your start date if you want to wait for another month or two.

Holy shit. Don't even contemplate it. Get the bonus, then give notice.
