I applied for a job, a recruiter from the company emails me to say they want to set up a call with me, I reply with options for times less than 24 hours later and received no OOO bounce back. Then I followed up a day later before the weekend because I am really interested in the role and company. It hasnât been a full week of ghosting yet but curious what would you do without seeming too crazy eager, just eager enough to want to have someone reach out to you for a position to actually follow through? Iâve also never had this happen before ever with recruiters from companies. If anyone works at Pinterest knows if this is a common occurrence or suggestions, please let me know.
Recruiters are the scum of the earth - on the same level as car salesmen
Iâve had some decent experiences with some recruiters recruiting for the company they work for. Like LinkedIn was a decent experience.
Calm down. Theyâll get back to you. Donât be so paranoid.
I am calm. Itâs just when the original email says they want to chat in âthe next few daysâ and then they disappear for the ânext few daysâ, then it doesnât make sense. If ya want people to not be paranoid, just say âletâs schedule time to chat next weekâ.
Are you in the sunnyvale office?
So they contacted you on Wednesday, you replied on Thursday, you followed up on Friday, and now itâs Monday and youâre worried youâre being ghosted because you havenât heard back yet? If thatâs the timeline, give it 4 business days and follow up again. Recruiters have a bad reputation sometimes but theyâre busy just like you and me and they have to line up calendars with hiring managers, which can be hard. Be patient.
I get that. But I should mention this isnât even an interview with hiring managers, this is the first step. The one where I am just talking to the recruiter.
Maybe the recruiters bounce resumes off the hiring manager before the screening call or maybe something else is going on. Itâs been less than a week... the hiring process advances slowly at a lot of places.
Did you ever meet up with them in person?
As mentioned, this was the first step after I submitted an application online. I can understand a long delay after having done the screening and then delaying on bad news or coordinating for next steps. This was just the first step for screening.
Hmm than you did something to label you a creep and ghost you.
Maybe the recruiter got sick? I applied online for a position and didn't get contacted, which I found surprising. So I went into my Linked in network and found someone writing at the company. I reached out and was told they are considering breaking the position into two and weren't actively recruiting for that reason. That said, they are going to let me know about the changes. Maybe the position you applied for is in a similar state?
Maybe but when I get sick, and for numerous days, I will put an OOO so people who email me wonât think Iâm ignoring them. Itâs generally common courtesy no? And it doesnât seem like there are changes with the role. Itâs a very standard role in the industry. :/
Sometimes they would only set it for in network employees as often times youâre putting your phone number or a colleagueâs email address down for emergencies and they wouldnât want eager candidates to reach out
