EDIT: if it’s not clear (not sure that changes much), Facebook shares that as a post, saying “will start working at ____ in _____.” It doesn’t actually go under my profile page until the start date. Say I accept a new grad offer at FAANG now, with a start date in the summer of 2019. Is it appropriate to put it on my FB profile now with a future start date? LinkedIn doesn’t have that option so I’m inclined to wait until my actual start date.
It’s your FB, do what you want
With FB you don’t need to worry about being unprofessional. It is LinkedIn your concern is worthwhile.
Typically one wouldn’t update their working history/resume/etc until after some time at the new gig, traditionally ~90 days. The thought is that it doesn’t always work out for various reasons and can embarrassing and uncomfortable to explain.
This. I tend to not update LinkedIn until i am over the probation period. Just started at Google, and won't update my LinkedIn until i get some kind of feedback on my real project
If it doesn’t work out, you will feel very embarrassed
I never update my Facebook profile with the correct job. Only LinkedIn. I don't want to make it easier for coworkers to view my ramblings.
WOW...the things that keep people up at night.
A lot of college hires who start the following summer/fall add "Incoming xxx" to LinkedIn. Seems fine to me
Wait until you join grasshopper
I think it is totally fine for a new grad, but with age I am also not updating it on my social media until 90+ days. If I don’t like the job I’d rather not mention a 2 months gig to recruiters to avoid unnecessary explanations. As a new grad though I’d try to stay with my first job at least for a year even if my manager or the line of work are far from ideal.

have you seen a cybertruck on the road?
What’s the rush? You don’t work there yet.
Makes it easier to connect with other people I know who might work in the same area/company which I would’ve otherwise not known about
Go for it!
