When to negotiate remote job

I'm looking for a remote position as a software engineer. When I really supposed to negotiate that if a position doesn't clearly states it's a remote one? I know many people start working remotely though initially the position isn't remote. So should I tell the recruiter this at the very beginning, or should I go through the whole process and then request working remotely as a condition of joining the company? Thanks. Current TC: 120k

If you can only work remote, then don’t be a dick and go through an entire hiring process to then demand remote. Because chances are working out of the office is a requirement. Why waste everyone’s time. Be up front with it

That's also my point. I intend to work 50/50 remote/from the office

I mean - I think it's wrong to waste their time, but I'm asking about f this is going to be considered by companies as a premature demand, like negotiating the salary even before any interviews.

Depending on the company, after you have the offer maybe a good time.

Why do you want to be remote?

There’s a difference between full time remote and telecommuting 2-3 days a week. For both, you talk to recruiter upfront. Also for both, it’s far easier to be full time, build a reputation and then go remote after 2 years
