The killer is different modalities of search, like voice/home assistant, or some fundamental change in how we use the internet. But those are a ways off. No one can compete with basic text search.
Reddit?
This is like a forum where you can get a lot of answers for one question. From my point of view for one question should be one answer. What do you think?
What about the problem with content which google search returns? Fakes, copywriters content, garbage. How this problem can be solved?
From what I see here on blind, a lot of questions are a quick Google search away, yet people ask. That right there is your competition.
Alexa
Partly because Chrome. Making the best browser and making the URL bar same as the search bar was truly a masterstroke.
It’s China! Nobody uses google there
According to Google, it's Amazon. I googled the question... Eric explicitly saying it is not Bing or yahoo https://www.geekwire.com/2014/google-amazon/
Agreed. If I want a product, I search Amazon. If I want non-commercal info, I search wikipedia or an academic search service or library. Google is mostly spam and such. Youtube's terrible search and recommendation system is also why we have anti-vaxxers and such. Google doesn't do well in identifying good shopping information because it lacks structured input that Amazon invests in for the specific purpose.
Censorship at its finest.
It’s called Google Assistant.
Bing search result is very good. But the term “Bing it” doesnt necessary roll off the tongue like “Google it”
What the competitive advantage of the Bing?
100,000 Microsoft employees
