Where to? What now?

16 years. Desktop and Network support background. Have my Amazon Solutions Architect Associate. Making 80k as low level network engineer. Now what? Im in mid America Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas area. Trying not to move so kids can finish high school. Should I just stay content in the 80k range or are cloud solution architect jobs worth pursuing? Currently I dont get to use that skill set. Background has much project management experience and team lead experience. Security clearance as well.

I can argue both sides. If you look for more TC you can help your kids out more in the long run. If you stay then they'll be happy but won't have that extra support that comes with more money down the road. Just depends if your serious, how bad do you want it? If you're here asking then probably not that bad..... Edit:typo

Thanks for the advice. I want it but not bad enough to uproot them at a pivotal time. Hes a senior and shes a freshman. I was moved twice in highschool and it was the worst, def drove a wedge between myself and my parents. Moved out when I was 17 when they moved a third time.

Honestly I believe you have some great skills and experience already and you can surely think of a Network Engineer/DevOps/SRE role in any of the FAAMG ( replaced Netflix with Microsoft/LinkedIn ) or Cisco/Arista/Juniper. All of them has regional offices all over the US so you may not need to move too far. A great first step would be to finalize on a certification path and start working on it. At an entry level, you can start at CCENT/CompTIA/Linux Foundation certifications. As you continue on the path and focus on specializations, it'd help you on interviews as well.

Awesome thanks. That jives with the cert path I was looking at as well.

Try and find a traveling job, so that you can be at the remote office and travel back home as well. Will be hard on you but could help you out in the long run
