Where to convert USD to rupee in bay area?
Anywhere in bay area where i can convert USD to Rupee. I tried in Bank of America but they do not have indian rupees. anywhere else for about $500 to $1000? Also can i use my BoFA credit cards as like normal visa credit card for taxi services/restaurants etc., any one tried and it worked? are there any charges associated to it? TIA
People usually convert cash once they're already abroad
Try chase, call them up first to confirm. Usually they have it for many countries. I have used capital one credit card very successfully in most places in india. They donโt charge for international transaction and give the best conversion rate as well.
There is an SBI in Fremont check there

Yes I have BofA travel credit card and there is no transaction fee on it that should work I think..
Better to have more than one card with no foreign transaction fee, as US issued cards don't always get accepted in India. Have at least one nre bank account or a family member whom you can transfer money and get cash from them.
