Which Bay Area companies hire pregnant women?

I know FB probably might hire a pregant women but are there any other companies that go ahead with offer when they find out about pregnancy? How women handle career transitions with pregnancy and raising kids atleast they are of age 5. I am a women in tech, at her early 30’d and on the way to have baby soon. I am currently a valuable resource at my team, although pay is not so good, there is great work-life balance and the working relationship between manager and me is also good. I want to change my job just for the pay bump and stay relevant to latest technology. Is it wise for me to leave current job? Any thoughts on how to choose a company who would hire a pregnant lady irrespective of due date?

To be blunt, most companoes wouldnt take the risk. A small company cant afford to hire an employee that is likely going to need to take significant time off just after they are getting up to speed. A large company can just wait you out.

Illegality and meanness aside, that’s insanely short sighted.

There needs to be a minimum amount of time before the federal law regarding time off for disability kicks in. Yeah if you’re an employee and have been at the job for a while, it’s reasonable to expect time off for disabilities. Or even if you’re new and need accommodations. Sure. Ask for the accommodations. But extended time off JUST after joining, especially paid time off? There’s no way that should be mandated by law.

Msft will hire for sure.

I think you will face problems in getting paid bonding leaves. For example California requires to be working for the employer for more than 12 months .

I don’t know for sure, but I doubt very much that google would have such a rule.

Amazon wouldn't even want to know if you're pregnant or not

You are better off staying put mostly due pregnancy benefits not being vested at new company before birth and also because you are better off riding out coming back to work at a company you know vs. starting new and needing to ramp up with a baby.

Many companies, especially larger ones, have benefits that are more generous than federal requirements. So while FMLA requires 12 months of employment, my experience was the company policy allowed for up to 14 weeks on day one. If I had been there a full year first, I would have been eligible for another 12 months, but all things considered 14 weeks paid was great. The only way to know for sure is to ask. Maybe you can ask someone you know, so you can hold off on that convo with recruiter/manager until a more ideal time?

It’s not about someone being pregnant. It’s about qualifications and supply and demand.

I know of quite a few large tech companies that hire women who are pregnant. If they want the talent, they’re willing to wait it out. Just be sure to ask that you get maternity leave even if you haven’t been there for a year.
