For example there was that Google employee who lived in a van in the parking lot. It seems most companies refuse to allow employees to live in tents in the lots or in the office. Really sick of paying rent and wasting time commuting. Would much rather put that money and time towards investments. I know there's lots of people out there like me that all they do when they are not working is leetcode or work on side projects, so there's basically no point to having a place of residence.
Google does
So are there more people doing it than just the van guy? Do you have more info?
I donât think this will ever legitimately be allowed end to end. They may let you park there but theyâre not letting you live there. This is more of a zoning and property tax issue than anything the company is concerned about
Rent a storage locker nearby
Storage lockers tend to be even more strict from what I've read. They don't let people sleep there because of fire and safety code issues or something.
WTF is wrong with you?
Some people buy a RV and live in it. Park it somewhere differently every night. But i heard The Bay Area will soon prohibit that practice, unless itâs already prohibited
The state doesnât like that. Once again....itâs cuz property taxes. Everywhere that itâs legal to live, you either own the land and pay tax or rent from someone who is paying tax for that land. Itâs basically how the government forces you to contribute to the economy. Otherwise youâd be able to live off your own land and completely opt out which of course they donât like.
Yeah. Off the grid is illegal. I heard it was OK in Canada though
Samsung digital city is very close to that.
Why not try living life instead?
I worked with someone who did something like this. Slept in tents or in conference rooms. He didn't ask permission though. He was 'caught' a few times but without serious repercussions. After a few years he bought a house. I don't think he needed a loan. Rough living though and not conducive to dating.
You are working for linkedIn and want to live in tents near officeđđ We struggle to just to have an awesomely food bed and clothing. Dont forget your basics man. Do you think you can really survive in tent and will give your fullest daily in work
Cheap people would do whatever

Lol what? Salesforce doesn't allow it either? I'm thinking there's gotta be some way around this.
No Iâm just a little sad from hearing your story is all
