Question in title. I wanna move to another country but pull in TC from the US. Lower COL but higher TC, I can live like a king. Current TC 130
Automattic, fully distributed, amazing benefits on top of high salaries. We are always hiring. Grew 300 people last year.
Define “high salaries”? What range does a senior level developer get for TC? When I looked at Automattic a year or two ago it looked like ~130k max TC
How much do non senior software engineers make? Just curious how it compares to my current job working for a small fully distributed company(~10 employees).
DigitalOcean
Sounds like a great idea. Maybe I can claim to live in Bay Area but actually live in Mexico? Good money.
I’m not planning on lying. There are tons of expats doing this now.
Dude, sounds like I am really missing out by not doing this. My issue is that remote jobs tend to pay much less than non-remote ones, so the difference will likely not be worth it.
Walmart
DigitalOcean, GitHub, Stripe. For some of these companies there are “bands” - ie SFO & Seattle, and then NY and then finally everywhere else which is prorated to somewhere like Austin or Portland. Even if you’re in that last band and you live in a low COL place you’d be doing good
Geographic arbitrage - very fortunate to have the opportunity, going on 8 years now.
Which company?
Try trustwave...
Salesforce has a lot of remote jobs in the $250-$350 TC, but they will be client focused in some way which will mean some amount of travel. But I am pull very high dollars for living in Florida.
These are SWE jobs?
Solution engineering for sales or implementation. Advisory services. All will want swe background.
Is this possible for PMs too?
This is what I want too. But typically full-remote companies will adjust your salary based on the CoL where you live.
I believe you tell them whatever location. Or even move to Haiti to work remotely 😂😂
Doesn’t Airbnb pay pretty damn well?
