I currently have two offers from Intel- similar roles but one in HVM and another in TD Intel Phoenix- TC 140K Intel RioRancho,NM - TC 170K Current job at GlobalFoundries- TC120K Concerns- Phoenix is too hot for us and lower TC NM- very good TC but no idea how'd be the lifestyle in NM and also wife is worried that she will not have lot of opportunities. What do you guys suggest? Considering staying at GlobalFoundries. What do you guys think?
I am curious are you in northeast GF and how many YOE?
Currently in Malta, NY YOE 12+
iam looking for referral to global foundries , can i dm you ?
I heard news gf is getting bought by Samsung. If you’re in Austin or Bay Area, stick to that. If you’re in northeast it’s better to move
Yeah. Currently in Malta, NY
I love visiting NM. It's definitely quieter than Phoenix but the people are incredibly kind and the landscape is beautiful. You'll have a lot more of a suburban lifestyle in NM. So if you have kids or planning to, it's an excellent choice. But if you're both outgoing people and aren't looking to settle down anytime soon, then both of these options may be a bit tame for your lifestyles.
Intel Chandler is a major site and have more opportunities, both for you and your wife. Is your wife in tech also?
Stay away from Intel and you'll have happy, prosperous life. Period!
Why is Intel NM better compensation then Phoenix that’s a surprise
What grade level
Grade 8 in NM Grade 7 in AZ
Take the Grade 8, then move to PHX. It’s you’re best bet
I relocated from Ireland to AZ with family in tow, about 8 years ago. Still love it here. Yes the summers are hot, but rest of the year is great. Think of it as 4months hot hell versus cold hell elsewhere. I wouldn't let the climate be a factor in your decision.
I was in AZ for 8 years and never got used to the oven that is AZ. And 4 months is a stingy estimate of hot hell. It starts in May and lasts until October or November. So more like 6-7 months of hot hell. And each year, the heat starts earlier and earlier and leaves later and later. Not to mention bone dry air. If you wouldn't let climate be a factor why not choose your "cold hell"?
Intel is not a good employer (refer other threads with Intel tagged and you'll know for yourself)..but you come from GF that's not a great place either so make the move. And I'd choose Intel Phoenix.
Go to place of opportunities if you wish to have a happy domestic life
