      Because you only get it once. In the example above, the breakeven on taking low signon bonus in favor of salary/RSU is only like 2 years.

      You only get a sign-on bonus once, but you still get it. It’s a part of your TC the year you get it.

      Sure, your TC can go down the next year. That doesn’t change what your TC is this year.

      How about you explain exactly how getting money as part of your package, perhaps even over 2-3 years (which does happen), shouldn't be included in the TOTAL compensation?

    Divide your sign on by 4 years to get the average compensation fir the next 4 years, unless you plan to quit after year 1!
