Most people on this app haven't shared the house with the opposite gender, no wonder the poll results show they prefer an apartment with a female lol I have stayed with only male roommates, only female roommates, and both. It really depends on the person. Except if you are with a female, be ready to deal with hair everywhere unless she is a cleanliness freak.

Honestly, either way can be horrible and either way can be amazing. Depends on if the guy/girl is clean, friendly, fun, funny, kind, noisy, responsible, etc

I lived with a girl roommate during my 2nd yr in Uni. Not a great experience. Hair everywhere. She was kind of messy with makeup in the bathroom (home only had one bathroom). I had a girlfriend at the time so I didn’t try to have sexy time with roommate. If I were single though, maybe I would’ve made a move, but I also don’t wanna shit where I eat. For the rest of my Uni years, I had guy roommates, close friends. It was a blast. Taco Bell runs at 2am. Always had a bro to hang out with, video games, similar backgrounds, no girl drama, and always had someone to study/chill with during those tough final days of the semester. I miss living with my bros. 4yrs later, now living with my current serious gf (different girl that the one previously mentioned). Again, hair everywhere - but that’s okay. I enjoy living with my gf, hanging out, and just living that adult life. Do miss the college days though, those were fun.
