FB and Google got kicked off the enterprise cert program.

Who has more power here? FB vs Apple and Goog vs Apple?

FB has FB, messenger, Instagram, Whatsapp

If FB were to pull all their apps off of ios, who’s stock falls harder?

Same question for Google products.

Without platform FB is nothing. Apple showed them who’s the boss.

It's not about power. Platforms have rules of operation and if you violate their rules, the platform owner reserves the right to kick you off.

For e.g. Google Maps API come with some rate/rights restrictions. If someone was to violate it- they could be kicked off by Google.

In today's day and age Apple phones are useless without Gmail, maps and Instagram. There is a reason why Apple kicked off the Enterprise cert and not the consumer cert.

They may own the platform but the most insteresting thing on their platform is people posing with their fucking food.

Exactly, Facebook might get hit initially but Apple may take a bigger hit in the long term.

Especially since they dont really offer much more than Android phones.

It’s not a good move to restrict your platform to just one for Facebook either. Cus then now Google pretty much owns them. But if they were to go nuclear, I think Apple takes a huge hit.

FB and Google each obviously have more negotiation power. You can get a new device this afternoon, but you will not move to a new app which doesn't have all 2500 friends of yours.

Also one of them already has a mobile OS with a 7x higher market share globally + sells it's own devices.

Apple has more leverage here than FB. Google has more leverage than Apple.

FB doesn’t control any platforms, so any restrictions and loss of functionality they suffer on either platform is a net negative.

Google controls the only real alternative to iOS, so if Apple makes it harder for them to develop for iOS and their iOS apps lag behind their android apps even more, it’ll just push people to their platform, which is actually a net positive for them.

Google is the most powerful in my opinion.

Google has both a set of really great apps (gmail, maps, chrome, calendar, drive, docs) and also its own OS with way more uses globally on Android.

Apple has only a platform OS but the apps it offers (like maps) are god awful. But iOS still smaller than android.

Facebook has only good apps but completely dependent on goog/Apple for distribution. Not much negotiating power there when their survival depends on the relationship

I can see why fb uses iOS for various different infra (badge signin etc, because of all the little fuckwit Apple fanboys), but Google, why do you use Apple devices instead of Android for various infra tools? Or were the reports wrong?

Status symbol I guess. I use a Pixel2 but I have ~60%+ employee use iPhone around me

That's sad and verging on reprehensible. I'm wondering if that's going to change.

Despite what all our badges say we’re still upper income Americans, which is basically apple’s market.

If Apple starts acting like the Supreme Court of Technology Law then many of us will switch to Android
