Who is richest ? Software engineers at google , doctors, investment bankers or McKinsey consultants . Talking about total wealth accumulated in a lifetime. Let’s talk about averages/ medians and stick to financial metrics and not peace of mind/wlb and bla bla
Silly question. It depends on your terminal state. All of them have the potential to be multi millionaires or fizzle out at a few hundred k.
I can bet you are indian.
Ya something like this. Just hoping someone already did all this because it is a very basic question
Who pays what income tax per year and what is their profession. Should be easy enough for the bureau of labor statistics should they choose to do any such study
Tell you what, investment bankers of google.
It's not the man who has too little but the man who craves more, that is poor.
I fail to understand why people get so judgmental when someone talks about money yet they try to get more and more
@op nothing wrong with wanting money. We are all here for that. However, comparing disparate professions is a pointless exercise. More so when you are already in tech and will never be able to become a consultant, doctor, lawyer or investment banker. And even if let's say you could become an investment banker (to answer your question, they get paid the most), there will always be other investment bankers making more than you. It's an endless race, unless you are Jeff Bezos. In which case: hi Jeff, can I get a 150% bonus?
Doctors lol
New grad at google makes more than a New grad doctor, but the best doctor in the us should make more than the best software engineer
I’m assuming you are talking about “employed” doctors and software engineers, not ones who own a business. Why would the best doctor make better than the best swe? Do you have any data points to prove that? Have you seen how much CTOs make at big companies? If we talk about business owners, it’s clearly software engineers who win: Gates, Zuck, Larry & Sergey, Larry Ellison, ...
Larry said this at one of the allhands "my mom is still upset I dint become a doctor"
Starting out it is similar. Over time, as someone else said, software engineers, even at google will be the lowest. Consultants and bankers by definition are trying to become the world’s next general managers or partners - you said mckinsey so im ruling out an IT consultant from deloitte for example. It’s all a means to an end to be leaders or filthy rich. How many swe at google have the character or the skillset to be a vp of engineering? Or senior director of a non tech function? That’s the long game. You asked for avgs so that doesnt include the 98th percentile of swe who happened to go through an IPO.
Pretty worthless question missing context. Google engineer in Wisconsin is not pulling nearly as much as engineer in SF. Or what kind of doctor, what level of investment banker, etc.
The one who has peace of mind, freedom to do whatever he/she wants to do is the richest.
Lol asked specifically for wealth. Hate such smartass answers. If I wanted that I would have added monks to the list
@Xpmo you are one with the force 🙏
