I have been contacted by Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Facebook and many other places, but never ever by Apple. Why? Do they have out of this world standards? Yoe : 15 TC : 180k
Same here. Have had onsites or offers with all of those companies and unicorns but literally can't even get a rejection response from Apple.
Same minus FB
Did you guys reached out to recruiter over LinkedIn? I gave 2 Apple onsite and 4 phone screen in a month.
I think their recruitment process is just broken. Even with a referral, they never pinged me. 🤷♂️
I told them I would never buy an iPhone again without a headphone jack and they walked me out of the interview.
I am impressed by your yoe and tc combination.
Why are you impressed? Specially knowing the how much people get in west coast, what I am getting is peanuts. Lol.
I think that's his point
Used to work for them few years back. Culture is much better than Amazon but nothing innovative in last few years.. work got tactical and boring. Apple today is not even 50% close to Jobs Apple so you are not missing out on anything.
What was so special about working for “Jobs Apple”? Could you be a little more specific? I am just curious.
We were constantly challenged in terms of innovating and overall office politics was much less. The leadership direction was very very clear in terms of what Jobs wanted and we believed in it. Tim is a great ceo don’t get me wrong but completely lacks the long term vision which jobs had.
They tend to prefer small teams so they don’t hire as much. They also tend to hire people already living in the Bay Area. They also don’t reach out to as many people via LinkedIn, instead relying on referrals
I get impression that they prefer local candidates as well. It seems like almost every one I know from Apple went to a West coast school
Screw apple - I am constantly approached...but they do not need me with military execution culture.
The same thing my friend said about Google when she made a switch from Google to Facebook. Maybe, it depends on the team?
I applied on their website and had a recruiter call me the next day. That team and one other passed on me during phone screens. Third team opening came from the recruiter calling me back a month later. Got the offer but passed because I got a higher level and a LOT more money elsewhere.
That’s because our recruiters are highly incompetent.
My most bizarre interview experience was at Apple.
How so?
Weird questions for each line in my resume. “Did you really do that? What is that actually? Cool! Why do you want to switch? Oh, you won’t get a real project for the first 6 months, because we are Apple - we are special.”
