Why HR silent on skewed hiring by Indian managers?

Jan 3 63 Comments

Its so obvious - once an Indian becomes a manager or Director the whole department or group only hires Indian from that moment onwards.

Visa sponsorship - no issues
Skills lacking - no issues

Lately with Indian recruiters that collusion has hit the new high.

Perhaps, Nothing anyone can do?

I have noticed that with Chinese dominant teams and not Indians

Well maybe white people shouldnt have colonized the world and wiped out the Native Americans for being nonwhite. That doesn't seem very inclusive to me.

You can try to pretend to be "civil", but we all know the West is still very barbaric. Where are the people who lived on this land for the last thousand years? Stuck in shitty reservation plots that's where. Since this is America, maybe we should speak a real American language like Dakota or Chumash.

And it does happen a lot. I've been in 3 person meetings and suddenly the other 2 Indian people start talking in a different language. Since this is a 3 person meeting, I ask them what they said and theyll either say "oh it's something about her weekend" or sometimes "oh it's not important". See now that is wildly inappropriate because that is excluding a team during a meeting. Yes I could understand it being wrong if that happened in the case you're talking about.

But I've observed this happening with Chinese people mostly in truly private conversations (aka not in meetings of any manner, just regular 1 on 1 talk or in groups purely composed of other Chinese). They are way more fluent speaking in Chinese and it makes more sense when there is no need for anyone in the convo to speak English. Do you speak English at home to your parents? Speak it then! The NSA will assume you are a terrorist by your logic and deny you green card processing.

I dont see American tourists in China speaking to each other in Chinese. Should we detain them for not being inclusive?

Stop being so fuckin nosey already and get back to finishing up your sprint.

Well...don't agree with JnhHglH on everything he said but Indians also speak to other Indians at work in their own language a lot. Both Indians and Chinese are guilty of that.

In silicon valley, in high tech jobs, there are more Indian ppl than Chinese, so the mentioned practice is more noticeable among indians. They convert companies in a mini-country where English is not the official language, and they keep for them the best jobs and the promotions. They are super good in networking too. Americans can feel the pain of been minority in their own country. idiots they let this happened. Forgot... all the outsourcing done where? In their same countries too, so they are always needed. Anyway not all places have this cancer that spread.. having some skills and doing well in interviews can help.

For the record, I actually respect my fellow Indian immigrants. But dont ever try making fun of an immigrant. Especially when you are one yourself.

      Respect goes both ways.

We are not making fun of immigrants. This is not fun at all. People brings mal practices from their countries which are cuestionable that is what the discussion is about. Your comments with no meaningful information of backup data is the proof that things are real. You don't need to be an expert to know how shitty the valley became thanks to these questionable practices and behaviors

@JnhHgIH respect goes both ways and yet you manage to be casually rascist by calling Indians slaves and demonizing white people (FYI neither of those)
This homogeneity, insular attitude, casual racism and unwillingness to integrate by Chinese immigrants is exactly what people here are talking about

Are you kidding me? That's because this thread started targeting Chinese people for no reason. I'm American in everything (except my blood which is neither white, black, nor Mexican so I'm still shunned by Western standards and made to be a perpetual foreigner) yet I still experience racism every fucking day, and this thread is proof of unprovoked racism that Asian people face on the daily.
      Jan 4
    • Vlocity FTJU
The discussion is not about Asians or Indians. It is about a couple of others self pitying folks who think too highly of themselves and think every time they face rejection at work is because they are the wrong nationality.

Not really, American bosses (withes) tend to have mixed teams. In general they do not micromanage and do not have third world country mindset
      Jan 4
    • Microsoft Big Pun
So... youve never seen an all white team?
Or a white manager that micromanage?

Let me add, I think it happens equally but people tend to notice it more when it’s another race that’s doing it.

The practice is more common in ppl not raised in USA because in their countries that practice is the standard way

White people are incompetent engineers for the most part. Have you been to MIT/Cal/Stanford? All the white kids join frats/sororities and do business/marketing. You'll see all white teams+a few diversity hires in cushy business roles...

That is if the rich white execs decide to leave some scraps left over to create some BS management role

Stop being an idiot and generalizing. All of us know a ton of brilliant white engineers and a lot of idiot Indians and Asians. I work with a predominantly white and Chinese team and they are all pretty great. Bad engineers and good engineers are everywhere.

Yep. More it's definite that people like me will never, ever make it in to any coding company. Harsh reality. This is confirmation that the three things that define your greatness as an SWE (coding proficiency/speed, system design, and amicability) is all SHIT if you are not born as one of these dominant people groups. So LeetCode and all this other nonsense ain't worth SHIT.

I've noticed this on my team, and a director specifically called it out (racially homogeneous teams) as something to work on eliminating in 2019/2020 through hiring and attrition.

this may be due to reason that managers lacks skills and they assume if Indians are under him makes his life easy. Hr cannot do anything unless someone proves wrong against policies.
