I have noticed this trend specially in fintech among senior management that "pure tech" companies( like Faang) are waiting to attract the best talent from them.
That’s your tc op?
B.B. is definitely not in the high pay tie, especially after long years of service
Fintech is not going anywhere since they have don’t have additional data to make more intelligent decisions on loans. Those who have data are not mining it properly or unwilling to share to make better decisions. Its a tough industry.
Fintech is boring and useless number crunching that helps some people get rich by shuffling paper. The only cool thing Fintech had going for it was blockchain, and that wasn’t even invented in Fintech. FAANG, otoh, has real impact and is changing the world, plus they pay and treat their engineers better.
I feel that I wasted couple of my years by joining here. Most of the folks around me are either mediore, set in their way and don't want to learn or unlearn. Always a figuring out way to to easy things instead of doing the right things. People punching the clock
Because the tech companies pay better and treat the talent better.
But I was under a impression that generally engineers in fintech get paid more on average when compared to software companies excluding the top few. May be I am wrong. Also, I did felt so times that I am being treated like a second rate citizen. Sometimes even worse, like a code monkey.
Even in cases where salary is the same, benefits at tech companies are a whole different scale than at finance. Health insurance, 401k, fringe benefits are almost universally better in the tech world and those things can be worth 10s of thousands of dollars per year.
