I never was a counter-culture youth in the 1960’s. The opportunity has not presented itself yet.
I need to work to survive. But if America paid me basic income and I didn't need to work, I would definitely be a hippie.

Lol today’s hippies are influencers at Coachella and wear “counter-culture” t-shirts while working at Amazon. Hippies are more prevalent in Eugene, OR or Bellingham , WA or Olympia ,WA- not in any of the major tech cities with high rent and lifestyle . Coachella and burning man goers are not really hippies and are rich tech people pretending to be counter culture .

Yeah I mean even the so called “hippies” in my high school were just kids who liked weed, Phish, and not shaving pit or leg hair who went on to get BAs in English lit or Art history and are now waiting tables...I kid but it’s kinda true.
