Its going against basic economic principal

Because liberal cities also happen to have the most population. https://xkcd.com/1138/

City dwellers are busy fighting for liberal values in the internet.

LinkedIn Gill Bates Dec 22, 2018

San Diego, Phoenix and Vegas aren't liberal AFAIK.

Qualcomm dynasty001 Dec 22, 2018

Hillary won San Diego County by like 20 points. It used to be red but is now blue.

Conservatives believe in hard work. Did you ever meet a conservative homeless person?

Microsoft DsVL18 Dec 22, 2018

lmao veterans. they make up most of the homeless population

Autodesk Subnet Dec 22, 2018

Met a whole bunch who were on welfare and food stamps.

OP - I think you incorrectly generalized cities as “liberal”, population centers proportionally lead populations of homeless people because of their size. Outside of NY, DC, and Boston all other cities have a nice year round climate making living easier than the Midwest/east coast. Third, as recessions and economic downturns occur rent/cost of living make housing an uncertainty and so large numbers of people are more susceptible to becoming homeless due to job loss. Finally, cities have better funding for homeless programs and some people choose to relocate to these cities to take advantage of these programs that are unavailable where they currently may be

The most obvious answer is nearly all large cities are liberal. Even in the red states. Look at any congressional house election map.

Wonder why the authors of the story didn’t use % instead of raw counts... hmm

Yahoo k_ Dec 22, 2018

Because they went a step further than sample counting. They projected the percentages into the total number to make it look like real counts

Autodesk Subnet Dec 22, 2018

There will be more homeless in cities who’s laws are more tolerant of the homeless population.

Amazon GHskann Dec 22, 2018

Because liberal cities like to give them free stuff, which A) attracts more homeless, and B) creates dependencies and incentivized the homeless to stay homeless. This, my friend, is basic economics.

Autodesk Subnet Dec 22, 2018

Incentives homeless to stay homeless? Since this is “basic economics” I’m sure you can explain easily how a city could incentives someone to stay homeless if they have an option to get a job and afford a place to live.

Amazon GHskann Dec 22, 2018

Easy: if they are homeless there is a real reason. If that real reason isn’t merely a lack of some basic resources, then giving them some basic resources will not encourage them to not be homeless. So then all you get is a homeless person getting free sh*t. The moment they stop being homeless they lose that free sh*t. In this way the path of least resistance is to latch onto the free sh*t as a dependency. You liberals don’t understand basic cause and effect, and instead clutch to your warped ideals and sense of morality, with no regard for how your policies affect real people. You conflate your rampant idealism with compassion, all at the cost of the suffering of the people you claim to help. It’s selfish and despicable.

Because liberal cities tend to provide more help and resources to the homeless. If you were homeless, would you rather be in a conservative city that blames you for being homeless, or one that tries to provide you with resources and aid. For better or for worse, these cities tend to attract homeless people to them
