Why do people lie about their TC?

Someone at work lied about the terms of an offer at another company. He added 18% to the base, and doubled his signing to a ridiculously lucrative level. I am actually good friends with a recruiter at the firm in question and when I inquired about the offers there (I was interested since it seemed really good) I was told that it was false and he even looked up the guys offer and confirmed It was a lie. His actual offer was much more in line with the market. Still good but more believable What would make someone lie about their TC? What is the point?

May be a lie is better than tell you the real reason for quitting.

Are you new to this.... World? šŸ™„ They want to feel important and establish superiority over you...

How would one feel superior by lying?

Now he/she knows that you're jealous of them... Makes them feel important

TC == testicles. Makes their balls look bigger

This, someone was asking recently if they should tell team and manager about their next job, never do it. Your intentions might be good but not always. Also that recruiter got another perspective from you. Maybe that guy also lied about current TC to get better offer.

That recruiter deserves to be fired

Guidewire jlingling Oct 13, 2019

Yeah probably a fireable offense.

Akamai Technologies hpBF22 OP Oct 13, 2019

Why? Donā€™t lie about TC and you donā€™t have to worry about it. Lying about TC is a weak ass wuss thing to do.

If anyone has any doubts about the goods Iā€™m packing or my length or girth Iā€™ll whip it out right there on the spot. Iā€™ll provide my ADP statements and bank account statements. When I give my TC it is accurate to the fucking dime.

TC or GTFO

Google simba212 Oct 13, 2019

That recruiter disclosed information that you had no business knowing about. 100% a fireable offence.

Who cares?!? Why do you care so much? It's not right but that's real world for you. It happens all the time. Most people lie about TC to get better offer. Just ignore him and focus on yourself

OP, the problem seems to be more with you and your recruiter friend. Your colleague has no obligation to tell you their correct TC. Why are you so concerned with their TC that you went out of your way to get the details? And make a post about it.

Amazon moe_lester Oct 13, 2019

The whole thing is borderline psychotic

Akamai Technologies hpBF22 OP Oct 13, 2019

I should start telling people my TC is 2m.

My TC is now approx 2 ^ 128
