Why don't homeless go to Bellevue/Redmond/Kirkland?

There are too many homeless people in Seattle but not enough in the Eastside. People claim that spike of homelessness is due to rising home prices. But the housing price has gone up more in the east side, why don't I see any homeless in downtown Bellevue/Kirkland/Redmond? Why don't homeless people just ride 545 to the Eastside? It's not fair that only Seattle take homeless people. Homeless should be load balanced among all neighboring cities. The cities in the eastside should take their fair share of homeless population!!!

    Many reasons
    1. Bellevue/Kirkland police are doing great job of kicking them back to Seattle
    2. There are no many shelters in the area
    3. No free food and services provided by the city

Free services are like magnet for homeless people throughout the country.

Wait: are you saying that enabling the homeless enables the homeless to be homeless? And if they don’t have to spend the cash they “earn” from aggressive/violent panhandling on food and services, they can buy more drugs, confident their basic needs will be met by well intentioned but poor critical thinkers/shmucks, thus swelling the absolute numbers of homeless and making the problem ultimately worse?

Awful weather and too boring on the Eastside.

Wanna get rid of homeless? Buy everyone a ticket to SF. Nicer weather, night life, lots of places to hang out, top TC, you know.

That makes sense, you can achieve both with a self closing tag :)

If you like homeless so much please stay in Seattle.
    Eastside's fair share is zero.
We are good as it is. Instead of feeding able-bodied street-shitting junkies we take pride in quality of our schools and safety of our children.

Why should eastside take their fair share? A lot of people come here to escape the homelessness, which city of Seattle can’t fix.

That’s where the Republicans are. They would make the homeless work. Homeless not interested in that.

They only come to the east side to rob cars and homes for more drug money.

Don't discriminate on the poor. Most of the homeless are hard working and honest people.

The laws are really discriminatory against them! Keep the homeless out of jail, Seattle. Jail your citizens instead.

There's probably a lot of factors but I think the social support in Seattle is more readily available

Then Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland should build the social support safety net program

Seattle had a program where they bought the homeless a one way ticket to CA. Also weather is worse. CA is more liberal so more benefits

Seattle will still buy the homeless a one way ticket anywhere in the US, if they can show they have ties to the other area

On the Eastside, they will be jailed for crimes. Why would you leave Gotham??

Homeless people don’t want to go somewhere that is terrible to be homeless. If you were homeless, you want a place to live that feels safe but is also near lots of pedestrian traffic so you can panhandle for money

    • Microsoft flyhi
      OP
Both downtown Bellevue and Kirkland have lots of pedestrian traffic. They should treat homeless people better
      May 25
    • Apple / Eng kGUv48
Then there might be other reasons why those places are less desirable for a homeless person to live

I have seen a bunch of homeless in Bellevue and redmond. Mostly in the exits of freeway (148th and 520), 8th and 148th and by Walmart and whole food complex. It is a just a matter of time before their numbers start increasing on the Eastside.

Is there Samsung in the Seattle area?

Homeless people mostly cluster around city center or downtowns. Bellevue and Kirkland are basically considered suburbs of Greater Seattle Area so don’t have enough aspects needed to attract homeless folks.
