Why is SalesForce considered a great place to work?

Offer barely matches (that too with a one time joining bonus) my current salary. My Microsoft benefits are pretty good and we even have free food now - at least in the bay area. Other than slight difference in tech, what is the compelling reason to join SalesForce.. also do folks from FB, Amazon and Google really move to SalesForce?

It’s not

Salesforce b$vip Mar 30, 2018

It’s not. It’s all marketing gimmicks.

Facebook Owler Mar 30, 2018

And outdated tech too

Office in SF?

Salesforce UkIp66 Mar 30, 2018

If you’re not a software engineer, it’s probably better than other places. But it’s definitely not a great place if you are in software.

Salesforce UPRl84 Mar 30, 2018

I also agree. Salesforce is a marketing and sales company, most statements about employee quality of life are for them. In general if you’re a software engineer you’ll have a better life somewhere else. And you’ll get paid more lol

Look at the fades of employees at thier office grand opening in Seattle area....They don't look happy or excited at all... https://www.geekwire.com/2017/inside-salesforces-new-70k-square-foot-bellevue-office-mindfulness-zones-social-spaces/

No one is talking about working for Salesforce. They do make 💰 but the work is uninteresting and uninspiring.

Salesforce USKFODRCEH Mar 31, 2018

Apply for Heroku positions

Daimler deargodwhy Mar 31, 2018

I suppose interesting and inspiring is relative. Working on Heroku stuff sounds interesting though not as interesting as some of the things I am working on at MBRDNA.

Good work life balance (usually). But that's it. No yearly RSU refresh so if Microsoft provides that, then you're getting a pay cut to go to Salesforce.

Microsoft AmIEwok Mar 30, 2018

Microsoft does give refreshers in about the same amount as your bonus, in my experience. It’s not based on your base, but it might as well be.

Salesforce editprof Mar 30, 2018

Yeah... so don't go to Salesforce. You'll be lowering your pay by a lot

For Seattle the offer is much more competitive provided if you do well in the interview. Wlb is better and people are much nicer than ms. More coding time and less meeting also. Agree on the outdated tech.

Amazon FBIEA Mar 30, 2018

Salesforce is boring and uses old school technologies only. However, work life balance is one of the best in the industry.

Microsoft AmIEwok Mar 30, 2018

Sounds as appealing as a lobotomy.

Microsoft wlb Mar 30, 2018

I think salesforce WLB is better than msft, but that is just from random people I have heard so far. Hopefully salesforce is less political also.

Microsoft AmIEwok Mar 30, 2018

How much better can it be? Jeez.

Salesforce tnRo08 Mar 31, 2018

Salesforce is most definitely NOT less political. Imagine 5000 engineers hungry to solve interesting problems but being forced to use outdated tech to solve uninteresting problems other companies solved 15 years ago. Starved hungry engineers + boring work = ravenous fights over the smallest technically interesting problems. Epic Game Of Thrones as the managers squabble over ownership and the executive leadership can only watch in despair because #Ohana. Stay at MSFT in my opinion.
