Building your own car from scratch is hard. Building your own Level 5 autonomous car from scratch is harder. They are avoiding working with OEMs.
So from an investor's perspective they're a super long shot without that much benefit over the other self driving options

Zoox is having hard times raising cash?

    Zoox series B: 500mil at 3.2B valuation, 15.6%
    Aurora series B: 500m at 2B valuation, 25%
Nuro series B: 940m at ??, SoftBank money, really aggressive terms. Not a good round for them, even though it’s a lot of cash.

Uber, Lyft, Waymo have backing companies.

Cruise has backing cash but also partnerships. Not sure what dilution is like for these agreements.

Argo also backed by ford and VW partnership. Not sure what terms are like for this funding.

Uber, waymo, cruise and aptiv have solid businesses to back their L5 efforts. Aurora was founded by former SDC stars.

Self driving cars. The founders are all ex-CMU and are well known pioneers in the space.

Zoox’s president & CTO is Arthur Levinson’s son. Their former CEO got quite a few Aussie connections too.

Aren’t they building their own car? Hard to partner with OEMs if you want to do it your own way
