Do I suck it does it take a long time trying to get a job? This is the first time in my career that I've been looking proactively - and I've been on the hunt for about 3 months. I get that I'm junior and that looking for jobs in LA while living in SF puts me at somewhat of a disadvantage, but I honestly thought it wouldn't be this long. I'm really unhappy where I am and I honestly was prepared to feel this "stuck" there. Maybe I am impatient. How long do you guys spend looking on average? Tc:78k Yoe: 4
U r making 78 in SF ? 4 YoE. U aren't swe , r u?
I am poor yes lol I'm just gonna admit the rest is *whooosh* over my head
Yeah I was going to ask how many people must you be living with lol
Are you targeting only specific companies?
No, I've been broadly looking at data analyst jobs (marketing or product analytics for the most part).
Oh I don’t much about that field but one trick you can do is use an LA address of a friend on your resume :)
It is super hard. Feel like the bar got higher in the last years. I thought it is because everybody around me is interviewing constantly.
Ugh well I'm partly glad to hear it's not just me at least
From my personal experience, about 1 month. Have you gotten any interview yet? If not then it might be your resume, you gotta make some adjustment so that hiring managers / recruiters will reach out to you. Always prepare for interviews even if you have nothing lined up, be sharp and be ready.
Thanks. You are definitely on to something. As I tweak my resume and cover letter over time, I am getting more interviews. But I'm sure I could add more keywords to get past ATSs
Slow and steady. 🐢
Why do you want to move to LA?
I need sun in my life again!
Why not SD?
3 mo is nothing brah. several years is common, and many keep it oiled throughout their career
Several years is not common. That's insane.
Focus on learning things that matter to interviewers; keep positive and keep pushing. it' easy to get demotivated but those who keep the energy up are more likely to make it through much faster.
If you want a 2nd opinion on your resume I can take a look. Been looking to volunteer one resume a week.
1 year... still looking. Tc 150k
Damn! How do you keep it up - I'm exhausted after just 3 months
How do you go 1 year still looking. It’s so easy to get a job rn. You guys are doing something seriously wrong
