Why is no one trying coop versions of Uber and its bazillions of clones

Drivers literally own the bottom line. What is preventing someone from having a coop Uber where drivers only give up a cut to maintain infrastructure and undercut the whole market while actually making more, since there is no overhead of shareholders to satisfy?

It's been done, lookup Juno, later acquired by Gett. Spoiler alert, drivers got screwed over during the acquisition.

Yeah you don't just acquire a coop, it is worker owned so they can't exactly screw themselves over

It is not a co-op but the closest thing to it. They wanted to be 50% driver owned. My point is that even a little driver control did not work out.

Where do you think a co-op of drivers is going to get money to start a company like this?

Start locally and expand? It takes little capital to get the infrastructure going for something small at first

Hate to be as cynical as the rest of the blind crew but if you really want to know the answer, you should give it a try. I suspect you'll get the answer sooner than later.

Good idea but in case you haven’t noticed Uber is losing billions per year.

Operations and support is just a minor portion of their costs. About half of their costs are RnD and marketing

Because it takes capital to get things going. Where is that capital going to come from?
