Disclaimer: Rant This is really sad and frustrating that people feel the need to lie about basic thins on dating apps in hopes of getting more matches. I don’t know what women lie about but I am tired of men lying about their height and age. I feel lying about these things ‘might’ get you one date but I am pretty sure it won’t lead to another once the other person finds out that you lied. Also if someone will not match you just for these attributes then clearly they want something which you don’t have so why bother? For me it a big red flag if someone is lying about such basic things because it gets me wondering what else is the person lying about. I would prefer to be honest and get fewer matches than lie and get ghosted after one meeting. I guess I just don’t understand people and their thought process behind doing these things. PS: If you have made this far then thanks for reading it. Finally posted this after meeting someone over coffee today and finding out about their lies. It isn’t the first time that something like this happened.
To them it’s a numbers game and they devote more time to the game
I might be posting a rather controversial opinion here but that's what it is, my opinion. In my limited dating experience more than a few years ago, men lying about physical dimensions is equivalent to features altering makeup and wardrobe. Everyone is guilty of trying to be more desirable than they are and that's just about it.
Yep exactly. Women literally lie every day by wearing makeup.
This is literally an evolutionary trait with a contemporary flair. I call it, "fluffing your feathers." I don't do this, but I know why it naturally exists.
Well what was their response when you confronted them about their lies?
What’s the point of confrontation?
To get an answer to the questions you posted on this long ass rant...
Same reason humans lie in general, to get people to like them.
This is the correct answer.
Why do women lie in their profile pictures? Most do their best make sure to deceive their looks to look pretty when they're not. Way worse than a couple inches and age difference. But the objective is still the same: get the first date and hope to turnaround things after it.
My point here is lying is not cool irrespective of the gender! But from personal experience I can only talk about men lying on dating apps.
It's not but imagine you're an overweight girl or a short Indian dude in these dating apps. You can't really blame for doing their best to get a least a couple matches.
Because it’s a more successful strategy than not? If everyone else is padding 2-3 inches and you don’t then you don’t get the same response rate.
How do you even detect a 2 inch pad? Do people bust our their measuring tapes when meeting new people?
If you know how tall you are it's obvious when you stand with them. When's the last time you've seen another human? Edit: I love unity btw, and congrats on working for a company that actually produces something wonderful.
Do you post your weight on dating apps OP? If not, stop being hypocritical.
I never have, but as a 5’11” guy who would constantly see “Not interested unless you’re over 6-ft tall” I can get why some would lie. Especially since if they swiped right, it means that besides those things, they found you attractive.

Because they're hoping for a one night stand. They're not thinking long-term.
I don’t totally agree with it. I have met people who were very open that they want something long term but they still lied about these things. Or may be them tell me they want something long term was a lie 🤷🏻♀️
The latter. They're thinking with their penis. Penises are notoriously bad at planning ahead.
