So it seems like the general advice is to try to learn as much as possible as a new grad. It seems like I should try to find interesting projects and get good mentorship. What's the point if leetcode is the only thing that matters? Leetcode and system design, which I can study by myself anyways.
Because once you get a job doesn't mean you can just start sucking. Leetcode gets you the job but if you know nothing, how are you gonna keep your job?
Quite frankly I've never found my job too difficult. I guess a follow up question is, if I'm already getting good reviews, why try harder than I should? I don't plan to stay long here too.
Wouldn’t you want to go to a better company and do great there too?
Once you get married and have kids, your time and energy availability will go down.
Lol not anytime soon for me
Because there's a difference between getting a job and doing a job well? Helps with promotion if that matters to you
Yea don't plan to stay long enough for a promotion
Why do you ask this question then? We told you why learning us important but you're dismissing it because you don't really care about your current job. Don't learn anything then and fall behind while people working at competitive companies keep learning.
Leetcode is like knowing how to make good legos. On the job experience will teach you how to put those legos together into awesome, actually cool products that last and can be worked on over time.
Because it feels good to be an expert. If that's not appealing to you, you're asking a pointless question.
School teaches theory, it doesn’t teach you how to build things.
