It seems that remote saves company $ and boosts happiness. Why do some insist on in office despite traffic, commute? I have noticed sales, services, consultant teams are usually wfh no matter the company or geo region
Travel costs, organisational and process overhead etc, it's not as simple as people would like to think.
I think on the surface, remote work is attractive for the reasons you’ve cited. However, with remote workers, significant projects requiring coordination and planning is much harder than people think. Hence the tendency to want to put everyone in one office.
My company, Rakuten, is pretty obsessed with having everyone working together in the same place and at the same time. CEO loves control.
