Wife earns more than me

My wife earns more than me. I am a hardware engineer while my wife is a software engineer with a TC 1.5x times mine.
This is causing rift in our relationship. I like her a lot for who she is. Suggest me a way to keep my marriage alive

Update: she does have her instances of reminding me this fact, when we have a difference of opinion. I don't know if greater TC means your opinions are always right.

I make 7x more than my husband. He loves his job, doesn't have to put in as many hours as me. And is always available to play on our PS4. If I look at my manager, he hardly has time for his family even though he is making more money than me. I guess her perspective is screwed up.

It's not the female nature. It could be the nature of some females. Don't generalize.

Anyone who pulls the breadwinner card is weak. Itโ€™s a low blow and usually an indicator of insecurity and an antiquated view of โ€œproviding for the family.โ€ Where she has more digits in compensation, you likely have more digits in emotional intelligence. Not to beat up on your lady, but as a woman, I feel that itโ€™s views like hers that hold women back (as evidenced by the earlier misogynistic comment.)

So; my wife used to earn 2X to me. I now earn 1.5X after a few job changes and promotions. That has only been the last 2 years. Previous 8 years she earned more.

Why would this cause problems? Our relationship hasnโ€™t changed as a result of my higher income.

    Just deal with it.

Tell her that without your hardware her software would be nowhere to run. They complement each other.

Software can be opensource or free. So, software can be cheaper than hardware.

She is probably screwing some alpha at her office making $400k+ TC, if itโ€™s anything like a similar experience I witnessed. You either need to get a higher TC or just leave

You are an idiot man. She is your sugar mama.. embrace it. Stay home with kids be a soccer dad, go learn how to be a software engineer. Enjoy what you do. In no way salary should interfere with your relationship you are a human after all, relationship is way more important than career. If you chose your wife strictly on how much she makes. How does it make you look? I don't actually get what is your actual problem.

I didn't select her based on how much she makes. She was a grad student while we married. Yes I will learn to be a software engineer, maybe do an MBA, maybe trade stocks to make extra bucks. But I am sad of random discussions ending on discussing TC.

You don't need to make unreasonable changes to your career because of a woman. She's not worth it if she has a disgusting personality, and she seems like she does if all your arguments end in TC. Sorry you're having to deal with this.

I am sorry in that case. The problem sounds like a deeper cause.. if all conversations end like that, then she's just bullying you.. y'all need to work it out with her.. marriage consuling would be a good choice. Sorry can't give you a better advise.

I have ALWAYS made more than my husband. One thing that is important to me is that meant I got to do less household chores. Sorry, the person with less TC should do more chores to make up for the fact they aren't providers. So if you are still making her do the bulk of the household chores, you bet your ass, she should bring up her TC. Do your share of household work without being told constantly to pick up after yourself.

A quintessential mentality that shouldn't be in a relationship.

I don't agree. Even if he earns less doesnt mean he is working less. Household chores should be shared equally. And both partners should be willing to do extra chores sometimes if the other partner is in time crunch or sick or something like that. Relationship and marriage are not business transactions

Love this. If my wife made more than me, Iโ€™d be happy to do most of the chores. But in reality I make 10x her TC and we hire cleaning services.

So when you disagree on something she tells you that sheโ€™s right because she makes more money than you? This sounds like a bad relationship regardless of who is making more money.

When she feels she needs to talk TC, pull your dick out and command her for a BJ.

This will make you feel better, more manly, and in control! ๐Ÿคค
