My wife is otherwise perfect except that she gets very sensitive about I talking to female friends. I made a stupid decision of trying to provoke her by pretending to flirt with a female friend I've known from my college days. She pushed me while hiking (Mountain View, Bay Area) and I suffered bruises. We patched up almost instantaneously and went to an urgent care together. This morning, both me and my wife got a call from police that they want to interview us for domestic violence. We are both super scared. UPDATE: I just got to know that a detective called my wife earlier this morning and she picked the call (not knowing it is from the cops) and apologized profusely :( :( :(
Was it playful or was she legitimately upset?
me, appearing to my wife as a ghost: why did you push me off the cliff? wife: it was just a prank 🥺.
Why did you go to urgent care if it was just bruises?
Maybe he also "tripped" into a door or down a flight of stairs. If OP read his post with girlfriend and boyfriend swapped, I'm sure it would be clear to him that it sounds like an abusive relationship.
Sounds to me he’s already softening the story for us. Classic victim mentality.
To preempt any criminal proceedings, it is best to return the favor, to be able to show it is an equitable, give and take relationship.
Good for you. If you want more than that, you should be considerate enough to state what sort of advice or answer you're seeking from the crowd wisdom here.
Talk to a lawyer, don't ask strangers on blind for legal advice.
Legally - as long as you say that you accidentally slipped/fell, you guys will be fine Personally - you need to do everything to make sure that you're safe and this incident was a one-time accident
The doctor/hospital staff would have reported it to the police They wouldn't have suspected domestic violence unless there was something weird about your behavior and interaction with each other and the hospital staff (or your injuries suggested something)
Exactly. OP could have said he tripped over a small rock and fell. Instead I think he must have been super honest. OP in future, don't provoke anyone and don't let anyone provoke you. Know your partner well. What if it had been a knife in the kitchen and a spur of the moment rage blindness causes someone(you or herself) to get hurt. Stop the childishness and immaturity.
What’s her TC?
Just don’t reply. You are not required to talk to them
^ this one
You are quite a character. Why the fuck would you try to provoke someone? It’s like asking to get fired. No sympathy here. Just tell the police it was a mistake. They can’t charge her.

I'm sorry, but this is a legitimate case of domestic abuse. Physical abuse is never justified. I'm just hopeful the system as it is doesn't end up taking you in for what your wife did.
Human are violent at our core. Otherwise we won't climb to the top of the food chain.
