I was happy to see the lovely new iPads announced at yesterday's event, along with their integrated phone capabilities. But with the official death of the SE, will we ever see an iPhone again, one that matches Steve's thoughts, "perfect size for consumers"? Especially one updated with the latest features instead of a low cost model? I have no problem that people like bigger phones, and my AAPL stock is quite happy about it too, but there are many of us that want something easily held in one hand. I've tried them all, carrying and using them for a time, but just hate the size for a portable phone. As such, instead of upgrading almost every year, it's looking like at least 3.5 years without an upgrade, but only if they manage to do something this time next year.
They removed 3d touch from xr!
Doesn't it do the same thing as long press?
Tomorrow first thing in the morning...
Lmao. Good one. I think this size is going to be the new normal until VR is ready to go mainstream.
On a more serious note, I think the market for people that want SE size had been constantly shrinking, and at the same time the price those people are willing to pay for a small phone has gone down. I don't think you can convince anyone to pay $600 or $700 for a iPhone 5 size, even though the internals are as good as an XR, and the cost difference of a larger or smaller LCD is quite small.
Agreed that the market is likely shrinking. But the 5s was the last time they'd produced a "modern" iPhone that size, so who knows after these years? But I would be first in line. It's exactly what I want. And I'd pay more than that.
The difference between âIâd pay more than thatâ and âa market of people large enough to sustain a product line willing to pay that price for that phoneâ is clearly too large at the current time.
Has the market spoken? 5 years have gone by since the 5s was released (the SE was a low-cost model without the advances) so they haven't even tried to sell an updated version since then.
Agreed, I really just want an updated 6s
What ipads? There were no ipads yesterday
Woosh
