This business model is MUCH more sustainable than the outsourced subsidized labor business model of postmates/Lyft etc. If the technology is safe and reliable, these companies deserve the big bucks

It’s cheaper to pay drivers rather than maintain an autonomous fleet + r&d.
I do believe this technology will land in private vehicles though.
So Tesla is the only one company which does it the right way.

Uber says. Our technology is much better than lyft+Uber+crude all together. We have the real data, not simulation ;)

      OP
Hmmm...Makes sense. I guess they are more likely to get acquired. Apple has a quarter of a Trillion dollars in cash waiting in their banks. They will probably go shopping soon for their SPG efforts.

I'm biased but yes, mostly because "ever" is a long time, but likely the majority of them will be public within 5 years.
Remember that the price of the cars only goes down over time, and the cars only get better at driving, there isn't ready a limit in either direction

Yes. But it will take 5 to 10 years for that to happen. They will go public so that their owners/investors can monetize the IPO.

No, they can’t even develop this technology. All those lidars with mapped cities. Meh.

Think industrial logistics will benefits a lot more from the self driving technologies. Think about truck drivers, even just very basic lane keeping sysyem will greatly help reduce the fatigue and related risks. But sigh seems all of them are focusing passenger cars
