Will the counter offer be verified ?
I received an offer from Microsoft, Can I tell them that I have received a verbal offer from another company ? Because I have submitted a counter offer which is already competent, but still the compensation are low. So can i bluff the counter offer ?
Why not say you have other offers but you’re not willing to disclose specifics?

Just ask what you want and give several reasons to back your number. Why resort to lying?

Many reasons could work. Market research is one. Having competing offer works the best for sure.
Why should anyone trust you? Even with posts here, you just told everyone you're thinking of lying to your possible future employer. A company you would spend more time during your week with than family. At this part of your like you confirmed you're not to be trusted.
