Google/FB folks, can you confirm what "Hal" says in this interview? https://thenewright.news/2017/08/rebels-of-google-senior-leaders-focus-on-diversity-first-and-technology-second-breitbart/
It's good and encouraging to know that there are still people with balls left, around us...
It's bullshit
There wouldn't be more than one source if it was bullshit. The fact employees dug 4 years back in someone's history on the web is enough evidence.
how can you call it bs when there are so many things targeted specifically for girls to get into coding. we don't have nearly as many of those for African Americans.
Let me get this right.. Google fired him for creating gender stereotypes.. but their whole diversity program is premised on gender and racial stereotypes. If you claim that hiring more males or females increases diversity, then you are infact claiming that men and women are different. If you claim that hiring more blacks or whites, then you are infact claiming that blacks and whites are different.
"Several managers have openly admitted to keeping blacklists of the employees in question, and preventing them from seeking work at other companies. There have been numerous cases in which social justice activists coordinated attempts to sabotage other employees’ performance reviews for expressing a different opinion. These have been raised to the Senior VP level, with no action taken whatsoever" This definitely sounds like the kind of thing you get sued for in California, although going the legal route isn't easy and tends to take forever, especially against large companies. Obviously, this is the kind of thing you'd be more aware of if you weren't aligned with management's preferences. Where I've always found the idea of working for Google cringe worthy because of the Googley culture, I'd sorta assumed that they mostly hired people that would be okay with the culture... Not people hiding who they are to be able to stay. Although I suppose we all have to bend some for that paycheck. Even if we start our own companies - we still have customers to bend to, in most scenarios.
I frankly don't believe the claims of manager blacklisting or perf astroturfing.
Does sound excessive and highly vindictive. Might well be falls or exaggerated. Granted, there are attempts to make people unemployable. You're seeing that sentiment online for the writer of the doc, and it wouldn't be surprising if there are some that do it... For the sake of women at other companies. Leaking such things about a guy to a new company that has hired him does happen - although I don't know if that has been done by people at Google.
Uninstall and delete all google apps. Diversity includes opinions, even if you don't like them. Don't call them racist or a nazi if you disagree.
Well, let's not overreact. Google creates tools / services that you use for your advantage... Often for free. Although I kinda feel the same way. Google, like any company, is going to have things we agree and disagree with. They do a lot of things well... Something that is often forgotten by people who decide that x company needs to be boycotted on x political issue. Let's just accept that there are tons of people out there that we disagree with on many different things.
I generate revenue for google for free.
The value we really get is far more than we give seriously.
It's a repost from Breitbart right? So it's entertainment not news, meaning likely to be false
All news is classified under entertainment and has been a political tool since the birth of the US (where most newspapers started as ways for political parties to get their views out) But Breitbart tries to not be wrong in their references, even if their conclusions might be biased (like most news) Obviously, their assessments of things as well as their subjects of focus aren't going to be mainstream... They have their agenda. I usually look for emotional bias and thus where they may be twisting things farther than they should... Like any other group. Nevertheless, they do focus on an interesting side of things that we normally might not look at.
Agreed with nXkl38. I don't trust Breitbart at all. Literally at all. I have no core issue with conservative political beliefs or news but I do have an issue with racism and general bigotry. Breitbart is light on the former and heavy on the latter.
The world would be better off without liberals and conservatives.
Wait then only leftist will rule. Are you advocating socialism like in cuba, venezuela, russia
The entire memo is bullshit. As a conservative I despise it. It gives conservatives a bad name. It nothing but pure sexism disguised as a pseudo science and a facade of "let's talk about diversity of opinions". By it's very existence it has managed to attack and demean an entire gender, enrage most of the company, and forever tarnish any actual attempt at a meaningful socially aware discussion on the subject of the goal and successes of diversity initiatives simply by association. The guy deserved to be fired.
That's not what the doc is... That's what the news articles say ... which are more specialized at driving clicks.
check my tag? I work at Google. I read the doc itself.
The author of the manifesto has balls and he knew he was going to get fired for that and he didn't care. His letter was also a big "F U" for Google and its diversity policies in general. Salute his courage to speak his mind, despite that I don't agree with some points he made.
I agreed with a lot he had to say and I felt that he was as fair as he could be, given his admitted biases, towards both sides of his argument. His point would have best been summarized as inclusive behaviors lead to more diverse workforce’s. In fact, you cannot have diversity without inclusion.
