What is the work culture like in terms of flexibility, office politics, workload? (Non tech roles especially) What perks do SB office have (shuttle service, free food, gym) ? Potentially joining walmart from Amazon in a month so just curious
You could make friends at YouTube across the street and mooch off them
Tried. Didn't work
Definitely depends on the group. IMO politics in the RCE group are off the charts. But work hours are mostly 9 to 5.
I see an increasing number of Amazonians joining WalmartLabs. I know our TC s are way higher than Amazon especially after it's stock growth has relatively stagnated, but I wonder if there's any other reason?
If you are joining Supply Chain Ops then you will feel right at home as most senior leadership (SVPs, most VPs and Sr. Directors) is now full of Amazon. With that said, the WMT/JET folks that are left behind are fighting for their survival and it's a weird dynamics lately. There are some smart folks but a lot of new hires and are trying to find their own ways to fit in. If you're joining a team that's run by an Amazonian, you'll do just fine....
Thank you! Its in the new SPARK delivery team in last mile. Any idea on how that team is ?
Heard both sides of story so yeah q bit political. However, Grocery team is pushing our revenues up so that team is getting a lot of attention and also in a rush to scale. So overall, I'd be excited to join. Are you coming in as a X4 or X5?
Oh and there is definitely work load on non-tech side. Perks are okay..free beverages like coffee, sodas and juices. Free snacks and good coverage from shuttle to SFO, South Bay and East Bay.
Depends on the area. Category is nuts. Poorly led and non existent planning. You do the same project 4 times and then your work isn’t used. That’s typical.
What about last mile delivery org? Spark

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
I’ve seen PMs work long hours, but YMMV, might be based on your own work habits. Perks: - Shuttles, yes. - There’s a small gym in SB and one down the street on Elm. - Free food? Nope. A mix of healthy and unhealthy snacks on each floor. Free fruit (we have 🍌, too). - Happy hours about 1x a month.
What does the shuttle routes look like?
There are commuter shuttles between parts of the city to work, trains to work, and between campuses. Where are you commuting from?
