Is this the worst bank to work for? I can’t imagine working for a bigger group of idiots than Wells Fargo.
Making money and working with idiots is mutually exclusive. See FB for reference.
Save yourself time. I know people from both WF and C that are at FB and other FAANG and other tier 1 tech cos and its night and day despite the issues you’re dealing with right now. But the regulatory hawks are circling.
Is there a competition among the banks for the title of worst workplace? I hear culture at US Bank is just terrible. Heard some horror stories. Manager being an asshole and HR isn’t willing to do anything about it.
They are all awful. All post FC regulations due to years of arrogance. Seeing tech set itself up for similar scenario.
It’s there in all banks. If the manager is indian then you are done :). Working for Non-indian managers will get you better growth than working for Indian managers.
Bank IT is mostly cost center. It works like Alzheimer's to your skillset.
Don’t work for Bank IT if you are remotely smart. Work for business or work for tech company .... we mostly have idiots doing idiotic things in banking IT sector. They ensure they hire dummies who would take forever to do simple things and build a system which is almost never scalable ...
Agree
I’ve worked in bank IT and it was great. Never had a larger budget before. Depends on the bank though. Citi is shit and grossly underpays, Wells Fargo pays very well if you are in an important position. Smaller banks you can make bank at and coast for years if that’s your thing.
Well that explains our UI despite the supposed “millions” we’re investing in technology.
The only investment citi is making is attempting to move as many jobs from the tri state area to Texas so they can pay lower salaries.
Welcome Brother. I worked in BOFA for more than 10 years. BOFA is far better than wells in every aspects. Things are very slow in wells. People are more than 20 plus years and they are not adapting to latest technologies.
What do you do for Wells now?
Am with eComm technology group. How abt you?
Been with Wells for less than a year and I see exactly why they are having trouble keeping older and younger millennials. Even though the company says and promotes they are trying to change the culture, the culture is still very toxic. Majority of the people I work with have checked out 20+ years ago, aren't able to adapt to new systems, and are only worried about playing the Blame Game. Not only that, you have managers who run on Fear-Based management, which does work on older complacent employees. With less than a year here, I have already had to report my manager to HR for something serious. It is really sad because I wanted a career at WF, but after seeing how the culture is, and how internal partners refuse to work together and throw each other under the bus, I am completely turned off.
MissLady - True on whatever you said
Wow my 10+ year career has been great. I’ve taken initiative, gone outside of my comfort zone and taken advantage of every opportunity that has come my way. Met a lot of intelligent, high performing people along the way. Everyone i’ve come across that complains and points fingers are generally lazy and expect everything to be handed to them. One Team One Dream!
They’re not that bad. Just depends on your role.
Has anyone held the Premier Banker role at WF? Had a recruiter reach out today about it; base salary would be lower but she wasn't sure how much extra the bonusing aspect would add.
Come to Citi. It’s worse here. Just good at staying out of the news. 😂😂😂
